Rose Doucet is a gardener, ESL teacher, community food mentor, and freelance writer specializing in the subjects of local farms, gardening and food security. She is co-coordinator of Barnesville and Area Community Garden, and is the founder of Small Beginnings Garden Club. Rose has three decades of gardening experience and has lead several successful garden workshops on various food-producing topics. Her faith informs and compels her to live a life of stewardship, co-sustainability, compassion and peace on the earth and with its inhabitants. She freely shares garden and life skills and vegetables with others. Rose initiated a “Food is Free Project” in Barnesville, NB in 2015. She has spent many years feeding the physically, emotionally and spiritually hungry from her north end, Saint John home. Rose believes access to nutritious food is a human rights issue, and dreams of a world where no one is in need.
Claude Doucet, husband and cheerleader of Rose Doucet, is a carpenter and jack of all trades with a generous spirit. He’s a behind the scenes kind of guy, supporting the endeavours of his wife and others. Claude can build or fix just about anything, and is always willing to help in this way. He dreams of living a self-reliant life on a small piece of land where he and his wife can grow food and raise a few hens. A boat would be nice too!
