Prepare the ground

We have been given permission to cultivate some land in the North End!

Can you imagine what is possible on this land? Your ideas could be a part of what shapes this permaculture site, which we hope to cultivate as a beautiful demonstration the principals of permaculture and teach all who come to apply them in their own lives. Bring a packed lunch and help us clear this site and prepare it for development and planting.

Launching Cultivate 58

The words Launch and Cultivate are a hilariously incompatible mix of metaphor! The word planting doesn’t quite grab the imagination in the same way. Perhaps the best word is ‘introduction,’ so on 8th of January, from 1pm, we will be introducing Cultivate58, and you are most warmly invited to join us at Picaroons General Store, on Canterbury Street in Saint John.

Part of our gathering together is simply for people to get to know each other, and to find out the different reasons each of us are attending.  We will also be sharing some of the reasons why we are starting Cultivate58, and we’re expecting this will prompt some good discussion.

So please come, we look forward to getting to know you and staring to imagine how we might journey together going forward.

Watching the spaces

I wanted to say “watch this space” but the really exciting news is that there are several spaces we are watching. Currently we are in discussions with some land owners about a site for Cultivate58 in the North End. We are also talking with another business about some potential land to use as a hub in uptown Saint John. Finally we are in discussions with a charity about access to a 10 acre rural farm we could use as a training and food production site for feeding those in most need in our city. Our desire is to develop little training and nursery hubs in each of the local communities. Please let us know if you have access to land you may be interested in partnering with us to use for these purposes.
